Section of I-40 closed since Oct. rockslide to reopen this evening

KNOXVILLE — Interstate 40 will reopen two days early at 6 p.m. today along the North Carolina stretch that has been closed for repairs since a massive rockslide in October near the Tennessee state line.

Unicoi picks Epperson for girls basketball

Unicoi County will announce Joshua Epperson as its new head girls basketball coach at a press conference Monday at 10 a.m. Epperson has been the head coach at Cumberland County for the past three seasons. Last year’s team went 16-15, losing in the Region 3-AAA quarterfinals to Walker Valley.
